CHAMPS Current News

CHAMPS is the parent organization that assists students in raising funds to support the Music Program. All fundraising efforts benefit the students. The profits are split, some to the student account and some to CHAMPS General Fund.

The student account balances are posted in the band room so that you can see how much you have accumulated. You can use this money to pay for your trips, letterman jacket, banquet tickets or other music related expenses.

The General Fund is how CHAMPS supports the Music Department by paying instructor fees, replacing music equipment and maintaining the equipment trailer, etc. We also award scholarships to qualifying students. Without the General Fund, the program cannot continue, as we are the financial support of many activities.

Fundraising is essential for the students in this program. We are asking for your assistance in this part. Listed below are some of the fundraising activities we are currently holding. Dates and times are listed. If you are able to assist with any of these events, please notify me at dwbwcw3us@yahoo.com, at the school or by sending in a notice with your child to a rehearsal. The Pampered Chef fundraiser starts on May 12^th. The Website information will be handed out next week. Keep an eye on the CHAMPS homepage for updates on this fundraiser.

The Spring Concert will be held on May 14^th starting at 7:00 p.m. Please bring a Baked Good for the Refreshment table.

We will be having a Yard Sale on Saturday, May 17^th at the Lee Auto Repair Shop on Wilbur Ave in Somerset. It will run from 8:00 to 4:00. Bring your sunscreen and give us a hand. Donations can be dropped off on Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. or contact Jim Lee at 774-644-1738 if you have items that need to be picked up.

June 6^th is the date for the Music Banquet starting at 6:30 p.m. It will be held at Magoni’s Restaurant this year. Tickets are now available for $25.00. Please return the form prior to May 16, 2008. Our next meeting will be held on May 20^th. We will be having the Elections in June. All offices are up for nominations. Please contact Dave Fontaine at 508-642-7550 if you are interested in running for an office.
